Description:
The owner of a farm located near Winona, Minnesota is interested in learning the wind potential of his site. An APRS World self contained data logger with battery backup was selected due to the unreliable utility power at the site.
An existing, but rickety, wind mill tower is used mount the anemometer approximately 50 feet up. Category 5 cable is used to connect the anemometer to the data logger in the pump shed below the tower. The data logger runs off of 120 volt utility power when it is available. During power failures the data logger is run from the 8 D cells inside the case.
